My name is Menya McDowell. “Memi” is my fabulous femme persona. She is my ultimate optimist with a bold perspective on life. She has a lot to say about the women’s modern struggle. Because I know what it’s like to struggle. I grew up very poor in the least glamorous housing development in Central Ohio, was in the 3% minority in high school and college, was sexually assaulted and molested. I was repeatedly rejected on the basis of prejudice in my career, had my heart broken by an alcoholic father, a hard-hearted mother, and a misguided younger brother, but I’m able to look you in the eye with my chin up and my back erect, and tell you…that God brought me through it all. These are my thoughts. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, but take ‘em with you!
